Genetic Trait Reports: Quick Overview

Updated: 7 days ago

Our genetic Trait Reports explore selected DNA variants associated with differences in physical characteristics, sensory responses, food preferences, cognitive performance, behavior, and other human traits. Some reports interpret one principal SNP, while others combine several variants associated with the same characteristic. Results are presented as research-based tendencies—not fixed predictions of how you look, think, feel, or behave.

What Genetic Trait Reports Show

Human traits can be influenced by genetics, but most are also shaped by environment, experience, age, health, and many other factors.

Depending on the report, GenesUnveiled may explore tendencies related to:

physical and sensory characteristics;

taste and food preferences;

sleep and caffeine response;

exercise and metabolic traits;

pain and motion sensitivity;

cognitive performance;

behavioral and social characteristics.

Four fitness cards list VO₂ Max slightly higher, faster walking pace, higher sprint performance, and moderate endurance.

A trait result describes the direction associated with selected variants found in your raw DNA file. It does not determine whether you currently have that characteristic.

How the Reports Are Calculated

Each Trait Report uses a defined set of selected SNPs. For a single-variant report, the genotype at one principal SNP determines the displayed category. For a multi-variant report, the relevant alleles are combined using report-specific directions and weights.

The result is then mapped to a scale such as:

Lower;

Slightly Lower;

Typical;

Slightly Higher;

Higher.

Most reports use more specific labels when these better describe the characteristic being evaluated. A Typical result means that your score falls within the report’s reference category. It does not mean that everyone with the same result will display the same trait.

Explore Your Genetic Traits

Genetic Trait Reports provide an accessible way to explore research connecting selected DNA variants with human characteristics. They can reveal interesting genetic tendencies, but they should always be interpreted alongside your real experiences, environment, and wider biology.
